Witchy Halibut 2024
We put in work on these flat fish! This is only a fraction of our halibut exploits for 2024. We've been blessed with a bountiful season and good friends to share it with. Lately I've been experiencing technical difficulties with the camera gear that have resulted in some very unfortunate data losses. With the help of Gopro support, I think I have it resolved now. We're looking ahead to Salmon fishing Neah Bay, San Juan Islands and beyond.

Sandheads 4 Screaming Reels

What a great time! Our last trip to Sandheads in BC did not disappoint. These were some of the best fighting fish of the season! Captain Ron put in some work on that big bruiser. We had tons of great footage that got cut from this final but I tried to keep the best of it here.

This was such a fun day on the Witchy Woman! We caught Chinook, Coho and Pink salmon all on the same day. The pinks had mostly moved on by Sept 15th but the Kings and Coho gave us plenty of action to enjoy. Despite our efforts, the bite didn't come on strong until midday.

The starboard side was on fire! Such a good day reeling in big kings on the Witchy Woman deck again at Sandheads. Captain Ron's fish had the weight but Rick Miller's fish had Olympic ambition! We still have a few more adventures up north so stay tuned for those videos.

First of the season Witchy Woman trip up to the mouth of the Frasier river in British Columbia, Canada was certainly eventful... Big winds and waves didn't stop us from seeking and capturing our quarry. Fresh Chinook and Coho salmon was our prize. The fun had evident here. More action from BC to come!

I almost called this one "Bonus Days & Net Handles".. We took full advantage of some bonus days to fill up the slim summer chinook quota. Good results, lots of laughs and plenty of fish around to keep us busy.

I'm so stoked can't wait to get there tomorrow I want to catch a trophy rooster fish and get a picture with a giant before I throw it back 👍👍
Everyone remember it's a two Dorado per person limit so ask your captain or bring extra gear for yellowtail or grouper cuz once your schooling on the Dorado you'll catch them quick
New anglers? Why are they setting the hook on fish that are already off the downrigger clip?
No newbies here! We were fishing down to 250' taking up the slack and a second set increased retention over just reeling. The amount of blowback and line drag at that depth makes it easier for the fish to trip the clip. Good question tho!

Great day on the water. Funny - I grew up right there in the '60's. You could have easily seen my house from your location. I don't know why, but we never fished that stretch of water very seriously. Obviously I didn't know that fishing could be that good just south of the bridge. I saw some fish caught there for sure over the years but I never saw anyone hooked up as much as you were that day.
That was an epic day. The intel was strong and we're not shy to venture out of our comfort zone.
